London World Restaurants

Sejal Sukhadwala - London World Restaurants - Independent, Expert Reviews at ProductSifter - We hunt down the best so you don't have to
London is rightly famed for its multicultural make-up and nowhere is this better celebrated than in capital's food. Time Out and BBC on-line food writer and critic, Sejal Sukhadwala, picks five of its best world restaurants Click to view Top 5 London World Restaurants.

A Taste Of Everywhere

London World Restaurants - London World Restaurants | MediumIs London the restaurant capital of the world? That was the title of a conference I attended in about 2000. There was a lengthy debate, somebody coughed politely, and before we hit the Champagne and canapés, the judges concluded that New York was the restaurant capital; but London offered more variety.

How times have changed. Oh, London still offers more variety than anywhere else, but now we also have world-class quality to match. When Jacques Chirac made his infamous comment in 2005 about food in Britain, rather than getting angry, most Londoners simply found themselves asking, "what century is he living in?"

In London you’ll find Tibetan teahouses serving tea with yak butter, you'll find Burmese pickled curry, flannel-like Ethiopian injera bread to mop up spicy stews, Korean wedding banquets, Armenian kebabs, and much, much more. Just about every nation's favourite dish is represented on a menu somewhere in London.

Choices To Enjoy
Here I’ve chosen four of the capital’s most-loved cuisines (Italian, Indian, Chinese and French), plus one that’s upcoming in terms of popularity (East European). I have highlighted the restaurants that are the best of their type in categories such as "romantic" and "cheap & chic". There’s something to suit every occasion and every pocket.

So IS London now the restaurant capital of the world? Look, who cares? Just take your tastebuds on a round-the-world culinary adventure - and enjoy. One thing’s for sure: you won’t be disappointed.
