Best Pure Powder Resort (Mount Baker, Washington) |
 |
If you want to be sure of fresh tracks then Mount Baker is the place to go. This tiny resort has only a few lifts but it gets more snow than any other resort in north America. It's also very small and undeveloped, so there's no crowds. If it's a pure powder vibe you're after, Mt Baker will deliver every time. |

This small unpretentious ski resort has little to put it on the map. The vertical is a rather modest 1,500 feet, it has just one funky littel day lodge and there is no base village or overnight accommodation.
What sets Mt. Baker apart, though, is the snow. And Mt. Baker gets snow. A lot of snow.

How much? Record setting dumps that make every other resort look like also rans. The ski area holds numerous snowfall records including an untouchable 303 inches in February of 1999 (that season, the resort totaled 1,140 inches of snow).
If all you want to do is ski powder, and you don’t care about nightlife, women or any other type of social interaction, then Baker is where you want to be.
