Best Ethical Buy (4GB iPod nano RED)

iPods - iPod RED | SmallApple's iPod nano RED Special Edition is exactly the same as its other 4GB nanos but wrapped in a red aluminium case. The big difference with it is that you can assuage any guilt you might feel in treating yourself to this gadget safe in the knowledge that a slice of the price will go to help fight AIDS in Africa.  (Compare Prices)

RED is the brainchild of U2 front man Bono and was set up to try to raise funds to help fight the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa. RED has teamed up with companies who make iconic products, in this case the iPod, and asked them to donate a piece of their profit towards funding projects to help women and children affected by this disease.  (Compare Prices)

Fights AIDS

iPods - iPod RED | Small"We're ecstatic that Apple is giving their customers the choice to buy a RED iPod nano and help women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. It's wonderful to see this incredible level of commitment from companies that are willing to lend their creativity in the fight against AIDS in Africa", explained Bono.  (Compare Prices)

iPods - iPod RED | MediumApple has pledged to donate $10 (about £5.24) from the sale of each RED nano to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the charity behind this initiative.

The 4GB nano RED can hold 1,000 songs, has a battery life of 24 hours, a 1.5in colour screen, weighs 40g and measures 90x40x6.5mm, exactly the same as a standard nano. Apple has just added an 8GB nano RED to the line up, but despite a hike in price of £40/$50, the donation to the charity is the same. This is why we chose the 4GB model as the most ethical choice, as a larger proportion of the purchase price goes to charity.

Unlike other iPods, the nano RED is only available at Apple stores or online through its website (www.apple.com/uk).  (Compare Prices)
