Best Small Alarm (Chaperone Keyring Alarm, £3.50) |
 |
A mini alarm with maximum performance. It is the loudest alarm in our top five at 140 decibels and it also the smallest, especially designed to fit on to your key ring. If it is small you’re after, this is the one. |

The best thing about this alarm is how small and inconspicuous it is. “We find that a lot of people feel particularly threatened when they are perhaps walking to their car at night,” explains explains Terry Rattee, director of Crime Prevention Products.
“The advantage of this alarm is that you’ll probably already have it in your hand because your car key will be on it, so it’s always ready to use.”

At 140 decibels it also the loudest of all the alarms. But because it’s so small you do slightly pay on ease of use because there is no space for a button to press to activate it. Instead, you have to pull the key chain to set it off, and then replace the chain to stop it.
For size and noise level though it’s pretty hard to beat. It comes with a two year guarantee and batteries are included. To replace the batteries you just remove four screws from the back case. It measures just 4.8 cm x 3.9 cm. |
