No One Lives Forever 2

Kyle Ackerman - No One Lives Forever 2 - Independent, Expert Reviews at ProductSifter - We hunt down the best so you don't have to
First-person shooters are among the most popular of computer games and there are masses to choose from. Here Kyle Ackerman, one of America's most prolific games journalists and a regular contributor to PC Gamer and Computer Games magazine, picks five of the best Click to view Top 5 First Person Shooters.

Best Espionage FPS (No One Lives Forever 2)

First Person Shooters - No One Lives Forever 2 | MediumEveryone wants to take a spin in James Bond's Aston Martin or try on Austin Powers' leisure suit, and there's one first-person shooter that offers the best of both worlds in an accessible and entertaining package. To save the world from H.A.R.M., it's still worth grabbing No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way.

Some of the most beloved first-person shooters of all time sport a stylish espionage theme, accessorizing with mayhem and gadgets galore. Games like GoldenEye 007 let us fulfill our Bond fantasies without leaving the comfort of our living room.

First Person Shooters - No One Lives Forever 2 | SmallSome might confuse this category with stealthy games like the Splinter Cell series. Those games focus on not getting caught, whereas a great espionage-themed first-person shooter is all about the guns and gizmos. If you don't open up with the occasional hail of bullets, it's hard to call this a first-person shooter.

There are newer games out there, but none have yet matched the combination of fast-paced action and the wry humor of heroine Cate Archer, in No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way. This game is still sharp-looking and entertaining, and while it lacks the latest graphical bells and whistles, it will run on most machines and no longer costs a pretty penny to acquire.

Beware the Evil of Acronyms

The game manages to find that perfect mid-point, balancing the humor of The Avengers, the camp of The Man from U.N.C.L.E, the suavity of Bond and the world-ending plot that ties together every thriller from Austin Powers to The Day of the Jackal. And it does so with an Emma Peel-esque spy who has to work just as hard to save the world from ninjas as she does to thwart a mob of mimes intent on manslaughter.

First Person Shooters - No One Lives Forever 2 | MediumSome of the humor may be a touch risqué for younger gamers (it bears an ELSPA rating of 18 and an ESRB that can make Cate Archer invulnerable. That’s a great way to experience the thrill of a shooter and the storyline without the fear of hot-lead-induced failure.
